Video Footage Still Being Ingested

All of the HD footage is still being ingested this evening. We’ll post some of the sequences in the morning and welcome your feedback.

In the meantime, we’ve just seen a short screening of some of the 3D footage. There was a handheld 3D camera on board one of the boats, as well as one on the helicopter. The on-board shots were interesting to see. When the cameraman was able to get some distance from the subject, shooting up or down the length of the boat, the 3D effect was quite impressive. On the helicopter, it was more of a struggle to get close enough. Despite hovering down at mast level at times, the 3D effect was quite subtle. Tomorrow, they’ll have one of the 3D cameras on a chase boat. We’ll see how that looks.

Please check in with us tomorrow morning (CET) to see some of the HD footage that was shot today.

For more on today’s shoot, see the news story here.

It would be nice if the fisheye camera on top of the mast could rotate to windward so it would not be blocked the mainsail and you would see the entire length of the boat. Nice footage of the bow spray if in windy conditions.

    Thanks,
