Taste and Toast the America's Cup with Off The Grid

Off the Grid at UN Plaza

2013 is San Francisco’s Year of the America’s Cup.  To kick-off the New Year, Off the Grid is setting-up a gourmet mobile food market at the hub of the America’s Cup, at Piers 27/29 on the Embarcadero.

For two months starting Thursday, January 10, 2013, and on every subsequent Thursday and Saturday, Off the Grid: Pier 29 will offer tasty eats, a view of the water and a close-up view of progress of the America’s Cup Park ahead of the summer of racing on San Francisco Bay culminating in the America’s Cup Finals starting September 7.

Pier 27/29 will be the heart of public activities of 2013 when the America’s Cup Park opens in the spring, following completion of the Cruise Ship Terminal. Already the America’s Cup and PUMA Official Stores are open for business.  Off the Grid’s pop-up food trucks mark a growing level of activity and fan attractions at the site.

Every Thursday and Saturday four different trucks each will be featured at Off the Grid: Pier 29 will suit all tastes, reflecting the international nature of one of world’s sports most iconic events. For the launch on January 10, 2013 featured trucks will include: Tres Truck, Mayo & Mustard, Sanguchon and Kasa Indian.

Off the Grid began in June 2010 with the simple idea that grouping Street Food vendors together would create an experience that would allow neighbors to connect with friends, and families to reconnect with each other. Since then Off the Grid has worked hard to develop markets that are both located in urban cores of cities, and that utilize spaces that are not easily activated effectively throughout the day. Currently, Off the Grid operates 16 weekly markets in the greater Bay Area, and works with nearly 150+ vendors weekly. At its core, Off the Grid believes in the power of a shared food experience to connect communities.
