A passion for the job

Emirates Team New Zealand team members think they have the best job in the world. And who are we to argue the point.

"It's a passion," says tactician Ray Davies. "We sail because we love doing it and we're extremely fortunate to get paid to do something we really enjoy."

"It's really nice to wake up in the morning and feel excited about going to work and the new challenges that lay ahead each day and what you're going to be doing in the future," says wing trimmer Glenn Ashby. "You look back six or twelve months ago and you think where we were then compared to where we are now and then to predict the future to when we're sailing in the Louis Vuitton Cup and I can only see really good things ahead for the team. It's a really good feeling."

Skipper Dean Barker sums it up: "When people talk about it as a job we really don't view it that way. We're very fortunate to have a career in a sport that I love and it's an opportunity that growing up I never would have thought I'd have."
