The second day of the 2013 America’s Cup sees the opening press conference for the competing skippers this morning at the media center. Scheduled to participate are Iain Percy (Artemis Racing), Dean Barker (Emirates Team New Zealand), Max Sirena (Luna Rossa Challenge) and Jimmy Spithill (ORACLE TEAM USA), as well as Regatta Director Iain Murray.

The press conference will be streamed live on this web site, beginning at 10:00 am PT.

At 11:00 am PT, the fleet parade is scheduled to start off Pier 14. It will follow the city front past the America’s Cup Village, at Piers 27/29, and around to the America’s Cup Village, at Marina Green, where the parade will conclude.

The AC72 Time Trials that were scheduled to follow have been canceled due to strong winds this morning.

“At 9:00am the wind is over 20 knots on the race course area and the forecast is for it to increase as the day goes on,” said Principal Race Officer John Craig. “The right decision is to keep the AC72s out of the parade and time trials today to keep everyone in good shape for the first day of racing in the Louis Vuitton Cup, the America’s Cup Challenger Series, on Sunday.”

The boat parade will continue as scheduled, including the replica of the yacht America, but there will no AC72s participating.

Instead, a group of about eight sailors will be on the main stage in the America’s Cup Pavilion from 12:00 to 1:00 pm PT for a chat session with emcees Andy Green and Tucker Thompson. A poster signing session is scheduled from 2:00 to 2:30 pm PT.
