Racing at the America’s Cup World Series San Francisco got underway today with seven races in the qualifying round of the match racing championship.

Morgan BAR (Ben Ainslie) and Team Korea (Peter Burling) all advanced to the quarterfinal round, with matches scheduled for Thursday and Friday.

UPDATE 1: 1500 hours
The weather in San Francisco never ceases to amaze.
After two days of summer-like weather with warm temperatures and brilliant sunshine, the fog has returned to the Bay and the wind has increased. What’s amazing is how quickly it rolled in, signaled by the deep moan of a fog horn at Fort Point.
At 1300 it was sunny with a moderate breeze blowing. An hour later the Golden Gate Bridge had become obscured from the AC Race Village at Little Marina Green, and the wind had increased to 15 knots with gusts nearing 18 knots.
The crews are preparing to take to the water for the qualifying round of the match racing championship. Eight crews are slated to race in seven scheduled matches. This afternoon’s racing is live, 4:00-6:00 pm PDT, and can be viewed on Virtual Eye. See below for more information.
