Giles Scott, the British Finn class competitor and former Team Korea sailor, met up with AC Uncut reporter Genny Tulloch in Auckland to talk about joining the Italian challenger, Luna Rossa..
"It's the scale of it all," he told Tulloch when asked about the what he had to adjust to with the new team. "I walked into the tent and was taken aback by the scale and the amount of work that goes into it a boat like the AC72.
"Sailing's in a pretty exciting spot with boats like this…" he continued. "It's a pretty stylish boat. I think a lot of thought goes into how everything looks and how it's presented. It's stunning."
As a Finn sailor who needs to keep the weight on, Scott was also happy about the culinary possibilities his new team offered. "I'm sure I'll eat a lot of cheese and a lot of pasts - hundreds of tonnes!!"
