Providing an opportunity to watch the world’s top sailors compete in the state-of-the-art AC45 wing-sailed catamarans, current plans call for holding the racing inside San Diego Bay, with the start/finish line just off Navy and Broadway Piers and excellent spectator views from Harbor Drive and numerous other points on the waterfront.
San Diego Bay, considered to be one of the best natural harbors on the western coast of North America, is a natural amphitheater for sailboat racing. With reliably steady sea breezes that funnel down the bay and the tight contours of the harbor, the area creates challenging, yet fair, racing conditions.
