Althelia Ecosphere has been named the Official Supplier for the 34th America’s Cup in the Ecosystem Goods and Services Management category.

The America’s Cup Event Authority (ACEA) and Althelia Ecosphere will work closely together over the next two years to develop and implement ACEA’s Carbon and Ecosystem Services management program. The program will supplement efforts taken by ACEA to reduce the carbon footprint of event activities associated with the 34th America’s Cup.

“This partnership exemplifies a new model that unites the 34th America's Cup, a sporting event that requires the continuing healthy function of the world's natural ecosystems, with a platform that is purpose-built to proactively deliver conservation and sustainability outcomes in this area,” said Christian del Valle, Managing Partner of Althelia Ecosphere. “We aim to bring the Althelia Ecosphere team's credentials, global network and commitment together to deliver the highest possible value through environmental and social excellence, and to create exciting solutions that will directly benefit the 34th America’s Cup and the wider ACEA stakeholder group.”

The innovative America’s Cup Sustainability Credit (ACSC) will support high-quality, validated and verified offset projects in a manner that is in keeping with ACEA’s commitment to ocean conservation through its AC Healthy Ocean Project, and in particular Marine Protected Areas. In addition, the ACSC will contain a local element that supports education and sustainability initiatives in areas where ACEA hosts America’s Cup events.

“The work that ACEA and Althelia Ecosphere will do together over the next two and a half years will play a meaningful role in our efforts to transform the America’s Cup into a model major international sporting event that delivers more than just sport,” said Neill Duffy, Director of Partnership Sales, Sustainability and Responsibility, ACEA. “We are particularly excited to be directly linking the ACSC to our AC Healthy Ocean Project initiative, which will amplify the positive impact the America’s Cup can achieve for the ocean.”
