America’s Cup Healthy Ocean Project
The America’s Cup Healthy Ocean Project is the embodiment of the America’s Cup commitment to leave a positive social and environmental legacy.
The AC Healthy Ocean Project embraces the direct connection between sailing and the Ocean. It recognizes the importance of the world’s ocean to the planet, the fact that the ocean is in trouble and that not enough people know about this. The America’s Cup Event Authority have decided to put the strength of the global media and engagement platform to work for the benefit of the Ocean…..to give the Ocean a voice.
The America’s Cup Event Authority have partnered with leading ocean conservation NGO’s to launch the America’s Cup Healthy Ocean Project, the worlds largest ocean literacy programme, aimed inspiring people to care about the ocean and to take personal action to improve ocean health.
The America’s Cup Healthy Ocean Project will focus on three important areas of ocean literacy – increasing the percentage of the oceans under protection, encouraging sustainable sea life choices and reducing the amount of single use plastic that ends up in the ocean - all areas where America’s Cup believes individuals can take personal action and make a difference.
The America’s Cup will utilize its many media and engagement platforms to communicate messages around ocean health as an integral part of the storytelling around the America’s Cup and to help establish a number of legacy benefits for the benefit of future generations.
