X40 Team Update - Nice

Posted on 30 September 2011

Very light and shifty - and will continue to be until the end of the event. Great weather for sitting on beach with member of opposite sex.

Yesterday we sailed in the morning drainage wind - yes, just like the Nice LV event in 2009 - deja vu.

Today - Day 3 - no morning racing, but will be the first day of the "Stadium racing" - so lots of races very close to shore in an expected light sea-breeze. Course configs could be interesting.

Tomorrow and Saturday will see 0830 starts and morning races until the glass-out - then morning-tea break - then out again in the light sb for another go at it. Terry is really excited about the morning races...;-)

Guys are going well. Great attitude in the random conditions. Very good practice for staying cool and focusing the energy on what you CAN control.

After 2 days there are 5 boats within 7 points at the top of the leaderboard. Terry, Truby, Sean and Ju are in that group. Chunk aboard the Red Bull is on top after some great starts and good speed.

Plenty of golf left in this round.

Nick and Harry as always doing great work in support of the sailors. Crack in bow pole last night saw them pull some big hours re-laminating. All good now.

Hope everyone is in good shape. Sunrise cycling program up in the hills out the back of Nice has been awesome. An X40 peleton has developed!

Warm regards and standing by on VHF72,
