Fun times at Golden Gate Yacht Club

The nature of an America’s Cup cycle is such that a winning team rarely gets a breather. Yesterday, however, ORACLE Racing found a little time to remember its victory two years ago in the 33rd Cup while also looking forward to the 34th match, scheduled to start Sept. 7, 2013.
“It’s amazing how quick the time has gone,” said ORACLE Racing skipper Jimmy Spithill. “It doesn’t feel like two years ago we finished the last Cup and the next is a year and a half away. Everyone’s happy we’re back at it and going forward, but it’s a case now of making the correct decisions as we go forward.”
In remembering the victory the Golden Gate Yacht Club hosted a party for club and team members. Commodore Norbert Bajurin (left in first picture) and ORACLE Racing COO Stephen Barclay (right in first picture) were on hand to address the crowd that included team members such as (second picture, from left) Joseph Ozanne, Dimitri Despierres, Eduardo Aldaz Carroll (partially obscured), Kevin Burrows and Michele Stroglio (far right). The America’s Cup was also there, along with prime rib and seafood buffets.
