Aaron's role

Date of Birth: November 30, 1976
Nationality: USA
Position: Design Engineer

Aaron has one desire: to spend as many daylight hours as possible on the water. The only thing holding him back is the computer.

As the Design Engineer, Aaron’s primary focus is maintaining the overall computer-aided design (CAD) model of the race yacht and the design of various on-board systems and custom hardware.

Aaron’s sailing background consists mostly of Wednesday evening “beer can” races with friends. He joined ORACLE Racing in the summer of 2010 but has been involved with America’s Cup design teams since the 2000 Cup. He came to ORACLE Racing after a long stint at Alinghi, which included winning the 32nd America’s Cup in 2007.

“The 33rd Cup was incredibly exciting for those involved in both the design of Alinghi 5 and I’m sure it was the same for ORACLE Racing’s USA 17,” says Aaron. “I most enjoy the people and personalities involved.”

ORACLE Racing is the fourth Cup team for Aaron, who graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in mechanical engineering. Outside of the America’s Cup he has worked on strain-gauging and modal testing of rocket motors and amusement park rides.
