“Manolo” joined the America’s Cup community in 1992 with Spain’s España 92 challenge, and hasn’t left.
Nearly 20 years later and with his fourth Cup team, Manolo is a key member of the design team as it gears up to defend the 34th America’s Cup.
For ORACLE Racing, Manolo’s dedication is on hull design for the team’s new 72-foot catamarans.
Manolo’s personal area of interest since 1993 is in VPP code development. He has created his own tool, PAP, a flexible environment for sailing yachts performance prediction passed in data from different sources that has been used for America’s Cup, grand-prix racers and cruising projects.
Manolo holds a Bachelor of Science degree in naval architecture and marine engineering. He is a partner of NautaTec S.L., a naval architecture and yacht design officer formed in 1994 and based in Madrid. His firm focuses in advanced technology projects, tools and products.
He is currently writing a thesis on sailing yachts’ performance predictions based on CFD and tank test results at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
