Tim joined ORACLE Racing – Team USA in 2001 for the 2003 America’s Cup, and has been involved in all of the team’s boat construction since, including the trimaran USA 17 and its towering wingsail.
Tim has been involved in the yacht racing scene throughout his life, both as a competitor and boatbuilder.
In 1984 he moved to the U.K. where he became involved in building and sailing racing yachts. From IOR One-Tonners to 50-Footers, the high point of his sailing career was with the U.K. team winning the 1989 Admiral’s Cup, having built and sailed on the top-scoring yacht Jamarella.
In 1992 Tim became a member of the construction team for the Spanish America’s Cup Challenge in San Diego. He was responsible for the construction of the boat’s deck and fit out.
He then built several prestigious boats such as Galicia Pescanova (Whitbread Race 1993-94), Rioja España (the 1995 Spanish America’s Cup challenger), EF Challenge (Whitbread Race 1997-98), Bravo España (America’s Cup 2000) and Team SEB (Volvo Ocean Race 2001-02).
