Not all boats are created equal and visitors can get a closer look at the very best at the Class America Expo in the AC North Park, where 6 America’s Cup Class boats are on display.
All of the boats on display competed in the Louis Vuitton Acts of 2005 and 2006, and are accompanied by plaques that tell each boat’s life story. Some of the boats have been reincarnated time and again. For example the +39 Challenge was once Alinghi’s training boat, and the Swiss challenger Be Happy’s boat before that.
The exhibit also gives visitors a chance to climb up and take a look inside United Internet Team Germany and Areva Challenge boats to see where all the action happens. The other five are raised overhead to give a better view of the massive hulls and their impressive artwork, like the vibrant yellow and red dragon emblazoned on the side of China’s CHN 79. It’s certainly site to see.
