A taste of what is to come

The opening day of Act 2 may not have revealed all quite yet, but we've certainly gained a hint of what is in store for the rest of the week. Although neither of the two Italian teams was at the opening Act, both are clearly going to spice things up for the rest of the fleet in Act 2 and 3.

With its win over BMW Oracle in the first race of the day, Luna Rossa demonstrated that it's going to be a force to be reckoned with among the top group, while the +39 team demonstrated how a smart, talented crew can launch themselves into America's Cup racing at short notice.

Today sees the two Italians centre stage once again in two of the key matches in the first flight when +39 and LE DEFI go head to head, followed by the battle between Emirates Team New Zealand and Luna Rossa.

In the second flight of the day, the match between Emirates Team New Zealand and +39 promises a clash of Finn sailors with the likes of Dean Barker, Ben Ainslie and Kevin Hall aboard the Kiwi boat, facing up to Iain Percy, Rafael Trujillo, Andrew Simpson and Xavier Rohart aboard the Italian machine.

Emirates Team New Zealand may have the upper hand when it comes to hours on the water, but with light and shifty winds a distinct possibility for the day, it would tale a brave person to place a serious bet on the outcome
