Today's weather forecast suggests similar testing conditions to Wednesday, with a small chance that winds could build to a peak of around 10 knots. Either way there are some particularly interesting matches to watch out for.
America's Cup boats may weigh 25 tonnes, but their sail plans are so powerful that they can still provide impressive racing in just 5 knots of wind as witnessed yesterday in Flight Three. As if to test the skill of the tacticians and strategists, as well as the Race Committee and mark boats, the wind direction shifted from side to side, teasing the fleet as each of the pairings threaded their way up and down the course.
Flight 4 from yesterday will be sailed at a later date so it's straight onto Flight 5 & 6 for today. Here, two aggressive starting helmsmen go head to head when Luna Rossa squares up to K-Challenge. Next off sees Alinghi battling it out with Emirates Team New Zealand. Kiwi team Grant Dalton wants to see improvement on the starts, so this match may be exciting in the pre-start.
The third start of the day will be Team Shosholoza versus the +39 team. The Italians should be stronger than the South Africans on boat speed but Team Shosholoza has more time on these America's Cup Class boats, and that experience could be the difference.
For Flight 6 it's Match 2, with BMW ORACLE versus Emirates Team New Zealand that'll most likely attract the attention.
