The event organisers for the 32nd America’s Cup will confer the title, “2005 ACC Champion” on the best performing team across the six Louis Vuitton Acts in 2005, and award a prize to the winning team.
To determine the winner, each team is ranked according to its finishing position in the six Acts this year, under a high point scoring system. The winner of Act 4, Alinghi for example, is given twelve point for that win. The second place finisher, Emirates Team New Zealand, eleven points, and so on.
The team with the highest number of points at the conclusion of the 2005 racing season is the ACC Champion for that year.
Point ties are broken in favour of the winner of more match races between the tied teams across all of the Louis Vuitton Acts. If still tied, the team that finished above the other in more of the Louis Vuitton Acts will prevail. If still tied, the team that finished above the other in the most recent Louis Vuitton Act shall be ranked higher.
This annual ‘Championship’ will be awarded in 2005 and 2006, however in 2007 the only prizes on offer are the Louis Vuitton Cup and the America’s Cup!!
