Sailors from the AC World Series teams have been prominent on the podium at the Sail for Gold regatta in Weymouth, England this week, the site of this summer’s Olympic Games.
Team Korea found success with skipper Nathan Outteridge winning the 49er Class as he tunes up for the Games next month.
“It’s great to get a fifth win here, especially so close to the Games,” Outteridge said. “We came here to work through a number of things, one of those being to go undefeated here in Weymouth, now we just need to make sure that doesn’t change at the Games.”
And Giles Scott, another Team Korea stalwart, topped the Finn class.
Scott beat fellow British sailor Ben Ainslie, who was selected ahead of him for the Games, and who will make his debut on the AC World Series circuit with his own team following the Olympics. Ainslie took second place in the Finn.
ORACLE TEAM USA crew Tom Slingsby also topped his class, winning the Laser fleet.
And Artemis Racing tactician Iain Percy claimed third place in the competitive Star class.
