The America’s Cup family has lost one of its own, as Bob Billingham passed away this weekend following a lengthy illness.

Bob was loved and respected by all in the sailing world through his tireless efforts at many levels of the sport.

A silver medalist in the 1988 Olympic Games in Korea, he also held management roles within America’s Cup teams on multiple campaigns and, most recently, Bob played a central role in delivering the venue for the 34th America’s Cup on its home waters of San Francisco Bay.

Bob will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family.
