ESCRIBÀ DEDICATES 2024 MONA TO AMERICA'S CUP

Master pastry chef Christian Escribà and his team have dedicated this year's Easter Mona to the America's Cup, which will be held in the city of Barcelona this summer.
The Escribà family is committed to the city of Barcelona and all its events, and they have taken this opportunity to showcase the tradition of the Mona to the world.
A team of four, led by Christian and Pol Escribà, with Daniel Domínguez as head of the chocolate department and an assistant, dedicated over 18 hours to create a sculpture. The sculpture is 110 cm tall and weighs 30 kg of dark chocolate, and is an exact replica of the coveted trophy.

The elaboration of the Mona represented a double technological and artisan challenge. Collaboration with the Consortium of the Zona Franca and IAM3DHUB has enabled the exact 3D production of the Cup. However, achieving the artisan finishes required a great deal of precision due to the high complexity of the moldings and filigrees on the trophy. The end result is truly spectacular.
On Saturday, Christian Escribà and his team presented their work at the Experience Cup event held at Moll d'Espanya in Barcelona. The Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, and the Vice President of the America's Cup Barcelona, Aurora Catà, were in attendance.

The Mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, thanked Christian Escribà's team for their dedication and work to be able to "unite a Catalan tradition, such as the Mona, with the innovation and technology that the America's Cup represents". Collboni also highlighted the commitment to ensure that the America's Cup leaves a social, cultural, economic and urban legacy in the city: "all the boats that will compete will use renewable energies, it will be the first time in history that a women's competition will be held, there will be an opportunity for young talent and, furthermore, it is a technological and innovative competition". "Holding this sporting event in the city is a clear example that when Barcelona wants to, Barcelona can", added the Mayor.
Aurora Catà has praised the excellent reception that the city of Barcelona and Catalan society have given to the America's Cup. She also noted that Christian Escribà, an international ambassador of the city, chose the America's Cup and its centennial trophy as inspiration for this Mona.
During the event, Christian Escribà thanked the city of Barcelona for its drive and ability to attract events that make our culture and traditions known, and made himself available to the institutions to collaborate in everything necessary to make this city the best in the world.
The presentation was held at the America's Cup Experience, the official exhibition about one of the most important sporting events in the world, the America's Cup. This centre in the form of an immersive experience allows visitors and sports fans to discover the secrets of the oldest sporting competition in the world, in an interactive and educational environment. History, passion and technology come together, offering visitors the chance to see the spectacular and exclusive One Hell of a Battle production that brings all the emotions of this unique competition to life.
The America's Cup Mona will remain on display in the showcase of the bakery on Barcelona's Gran Vía until the competition begins next summer.
