PRADA CUP, DAY 1 RR1 - RACE INFO

At 3:12 PM NZT the PRADA Cup day 1 gets underway, with the first match of the day being American Magic vs INEOS TEAM UK followed by INEOS TEAM UK vs Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli.

Races will be streamed live on most of the countries on americascup.com, YouTube and Facebook without the need of downloading an App. If you want to watch the races on TV check here the list of broadcasters.

Race course C will be used for racing today 15th January 2021 and weather forecast are for south west breezes and winds between 10 to 15 knots with low tide at 15:55.

For those in Auckland the race village is open and free to enter. Come down at 11:30 for the Pre-Race show and meet the crews on the main stage on Te Wero Island. Read below what they said today:

Francesco Bruni, one of the two Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli helmsmen, declared: “I have been waiting this day for a long time. I’m very sorry that Luna Rossa missed the last America’s Cup in Bermuda but we are here, we are strong"

Terry Hutchison from New York Yacht Club American Magic said “We feel very ready, we spent a lot of time on the Mule learning and now we have Patriot. We have great respect for Sir Ben Ainslie, Giles Scott, and his design team. We are as ready as it is possible to be”.

Giles Scott, INEOS TEAM UK tactician: was excited about the day “We’ve got two races today, the Americans and Luna Rossa. We had made some great improvements and we will show today. We want to start winning races and Ben and all the crew are well fired up”.
