PRADA Cup Day 3 – WHAT TO EXPECT

The second day of the PRADA Cup delivered two key performances. With another confident win INEOS TEAM UK were clearly on the ascent, but after three races American Magic have yet to score over either of their rivals in the PRADA Cup.
Both performances have sparked plenty of discussion with several observers questioning what has changed within the American Magic campaign to have the team struggling to this degree. Before Christmas they had delivered some impressive light weather results to compliment their strong wind capabilities.
This morning there is a third question doing the rounds.
With such change in fortunes on either side of them, where does Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli now sit? Today promises to deliver the answer.
Of the three, the Italians are one race behind and will enjoy a double billing today to complete the second Round Robin. By then, each team will have raced the other twice.
Luna Rossa have said repeatedly that they are confident in light winds but believe that they need to do more work in the stronger conditions, yet today’s forecast suggests that they will find themselves in the middle here too.

Their first match is against the British. INEOS TEAM UK’s light wind performance yesterday was arguably even more impressive than their double bullet score on the first day. Seeing how they compare to the current masters of the light breezes could help to establish a new form guide. But the weather forecast suggests breeze in the teens and it looks like we will be denied this piece of intelligence, at least for the time being.
The second match for Luna Rossa will be against American Magic when it is expected that the breeze will have begun to decrease slightly, yet still not into the light conditions in which the Italians like and the Americans probably fear.
Plenty to watch out for today!
