THE LOUIS VUITTON 37TH AMERICA'S CUP VOLUNTEER TEAM TRAINING BEGINS

The Louis Vuitton 37th America's Cup Barcelona 2024 volunteer community continues with its calendar of activities in the months leading up to the opening of the Event. After the success of the Volunteer Day held at the official America's Cup Experience centre last December, the Antiga Fàbrica de Estrella Damm hosted the first Team B training and team building sessions this weekend, which will be repeated on the 27th and 28th of April.

The staff of the organising entity, America's Cup Event Barcelona (ACE), were able to get to know the initial 700 members of Team B and gave them a training introduction to the positions planned for each of the four areas of participation (shore operations, water operations, media and TV). The workshops were conducted in the three official languages of the Event, Catalan, Spanish and English.

In addition to strengthening the bonds of a community that has been active since the first preliminary regatta was held in Vilanova i la Geltrú last September, the participants also enjoyed a series of fun activities that helped to promote group dynamics. In this way, the four scheduled sessions, which will be joined by the following four on 27 and 28 April, will allow the organisation to confirm the definitive position of each team member.

"These sessions are intended to explain to the future volunteers all the details of the event, to train them in their fields and also to socialise and have a good time. The moment when staff and volunteers get to know each other is always special," says Xavier Prat, head of the programme.

In addition to going down in history as the largest America's Cup volunteer programme, Team B will be a diverse, inclusive and representative team from Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain and America's Cup fans from all over the world. The selection process has taken into account all age groups and demographics, with special mention to the people living in the neighbourhoods closest to the Event, who have responded positively to the organisation's call.

The 2,300 people selected to be part of the team will contribute to making this Louis Vuitton 37th America's Cup Barcelona a memorable one. The figures are extremely positive for the organisation, which has received nearly three times the number of applications needed at the start of the campaign.
