MEET LISA VUCETTI – LUNA ROSSA’S NEW TALENT

Lisa Vucetti is one of Italy's most promising young sailors and is the newest recruit to Luna Rossa's Women's America's Cup programme for Naples 2027.

Hailing from Trieste, Vucetti developed her sailing career at the Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano, progressing rapidly through the Optimist and 420 classes before establishing herself as an outstanding talent in the Olympic 470 Mixed class.

Her early achievements included finishing runner-up in the girls' division of the 2019 Optimist European Championship and winning the junior division of Barcolana Young in 2021. She won the World Championship (2021) and European Championship (2019) titles in Team Racing whilst individually, she finished runner-up at the World Championship (2021), twice at the European Championships (2019 and 2020), and won the Italian Female Championship title twice (2019 and 2021).

She subsequently formed a highly successful partnership with fellow Trieste sailor Vittorio Bonifacio, with whom she progressed into the 420 class.

The pairing enjoyed an extraordinary 2024 season after claiming silver at the 2024 World Championships, winning three major international titles in just 28 days: the 420 European Championship in Portorož, the World Sailing Youth World Championship on Lake Garda, and the Junior Mixed 420 European Championship in Thessaloniki. The pair also won the Italian Championship – a title Lisa had won before in 2023, sailing alongside fellow Luna Rossa Team member Alice Linussi.

After transitioning to the Olympic 470 Mixed class in 2025, Vucetti and Bonifacio continued their remarkable progression. In July 2026, they won the Junior 470 World Championship in Gdynia, Poland, defeating the defending Israeli champions on a Medal Race tiebreak. Just days later, they secured the Junior European Championship in Nida, Lithuania, completing an exceptional World and European double.

Outside of sailing, Lisa enjoys spending time in the mountains, snowboarding in the winter and cycling in the summer.

Joining Luna Rossa for the 38th America's Cup
On 28 October 2026, Luna Rossa announced Vucetti's inclusion in its Women's America's Cup squad, marking a significant new chapter in her sailing career.

The Italian challenger, and defending Women’s & Youth America’s Cup team, confirmed that she had been monitored by its coaching staff before her Junior 470 World Championship victory, with Youth and Women's programme coordinator Jacopo Plazzi Marzotto saying: “We are very pleased to welcome Lisa. She first caught our attention this summer, before the 470 Junior World Championship, which she went on to win with Vittorio Bonifacio, and she is now confirming our excellent first impressions: she is a technically accomplished sailor with a strong aptitude for teamwork, a quality we value highly.”

Vucetti joins the team's AC40 training programme in Cagliari, where sailors are developing the high-performance foiling skills required for the Women's America's Cup in Naples in 2027.

Her appointment represents another example of the growing pathway from Olympic-class sailing into the America's Cup, bringing a young Italian world champion into one of the sport's most technologically advanced competitive environments.
