HOLD AND WAIT FOR IMPROVING CONDITIONS AT THE UNICREDIT YOUTH AMERICA’S CUP
A damp, light airs weather pattern has set in across Barcelona with early morning rain showers delivered by low, heavy cloud cover resulting in windless conditions across the planned racecourse for Day 5 of the UniCredit Youth America’s Cup.

After yesterday’s sensational, brilliant, quick-fire, all-action racing, today was planned to see two Group B (Invited Teams) races and up to four Group A (America’s Cup Teams) races. That programme looked challenging this morning, but in Barcelona conditions can change quickly.
The AC40’s, moored up at the outstanding ‘nou’ Port Olímpic which has undergone a dramatic transformation into a world-class yachting facility, have been instructed to stay ashore but be ready to dock out at a moment’s notice.
The Race Committee are heading out to set up a course and will be monitoring the wind strength intently. The current true wind direction is in a range of 54° to 81° at a mean velocity of just five knots. Several team meteorologist forecasts suggest the wind may build later so we may see some late afternoon/early evening races. For sure, as soon as fair racing is possible, the Race Committee will do everything possible to get the UniCredit Youth America’s Cup underway.

Shoreside yesterday there was some fabulous support at dock-out with the Women’s Teams and support crews making a colourful spectacle down at the Port Olímpic. Walking the docks, there’s a real vibrancy around the UniCredit Youth America’s Cup where for sure, what we are seeing are the emergence of several very talented sailors all catching the eyes of the America’s Cup teams. The future of the America's Cup has never been healthier.
