Club Nàutic Vilanova
Although it was inaugurated in 1957 the Club Nàutic Vilanova dates back to 1920. Its first location was on the eastern wharf of the port but in 1983 it moved to its current whereabouts. Nowadays, it has almost 700 members and more than 800 moorings. One of the greatest values of its marina is that it is integrated in the perfect town if you are looking for tranquillity, proximity, rest and good gastronomy. Within this port we can find the Club Nàutic Vilanova, an unbeatable base for nautical activities in the western Mediterranean. An ideal marina where you can take part in its activities all year round and berth your boat during the winter months to service it. The Club Nàutic Vilanova officially opened the new clubhouse on 10 July 2020. This new building contains the club's offices, the sailing school, the social area, and reception on the ground floor and the restaurant and cafeteria on the upper floor. The new building, together with the remodelling of the changing rooms and the extension of the sports esplanade, has left the Vilanova entity in ideal conditions to host any type of top-level sports competition and was a natural choice for the first preliminary regatta of the America’s Cup. All of this forms part of a series of strategic objectives of the Vilanova Yacht Club: to become a reference point on the Catalan coast, to open the port area in the city, with the essential aim of promoting nautical activity and to provide Vilanova i la Geltrú’s seafront with new social, cultural, sporting and gastronomic facilities.

DINING OUT & ‘XATONADA’
Apart from traditional seafood restaurants and cutting edge presentations of local foods at culinary destinations such as L'Oganquit and Genito, Vilanova is a recognised centre for xató, a winter salad dressed with a rich sauce made from almonds, olives, fish, oil and garlic, which forms the basis for the Festival of Xató (Xatonada) in tandem with nearby villages and towns. Other local innovations include Glòries, elaborate confections of meringue presented during ‘carnaval’ that may be a dying tradition, and the Mig-Mig, a refreshing summer drink invented at the gelateria Cal Llorens, is a fifty-fifty blend of Orxata de Xufa made from tiger nuts and granissat de llimona or pulverized ice with lemon syrup.
