    FOR HELP GETTING AROUND VILANOVA I LA GELTRU DOWNLAOD THE OFFICAL VILANOVA APP

    The best way to get to Vilanova i La Geltrú for the first Preliminary regatta is BY TRAIN, with trains running between Barcelona and Vilanova i La Geltrú every 20mins from 5:45am to midnight each day. 

     

    If you are coming BY CAR, you will have five choices of parking location, with a free shuttle bus provided to shuttle you between the parking locations and the Race Village.

    VIEWING AREAS

    Visitors to Vilanova i La Geltrú who prefer to stay on-shore can take advantage of the two main viewing areas - the Race Village located in the Plaça del Port and the Platja de Ribes Roges, one of the most popular beaches in Vilanova i la Geltrú, with a length of a little over one kilometre stretching out to the west from the marina.


    No ticketing will be required for spectators at Vilanova i La Geltrú with the America’s Cup being free to watch for everyone who wishes to enjoy the spectacle and be part of the action.


    Racing starts at 3.30pm every day with the official practice day starting on Thursday 14th September. Three fleet races will be sailed on Friday 15th September, a further three fleet races on Saturday 16th September and then a concluding two fleet races on Sunday 17th September followed by the Match-Race final – a winner-takes-all race between the top two boats from eight fleet races.

    PLATJA RIBES ROGES

    The Ribes Roges beach, is the second free viewing area for those who prefer to stay onshore. There will be three large viewing screens on the promenade and along the main beach, near the existing chiringuitos, for fans to relax and watch the boats racing in what promises to be an incredible atmosphere.

    The beach has toiles, access ramps for the disabled, lifeguard, and beach bars which are open until late at night.

    RACE VILLAGE | PLAÇA DEL PORT

    The Race Village will be located in Plaça del Port , access is via multiple entry points along the Passeig MarÍtim and entry is free for all. Doors open at 12pm on Thursday 14th and Friday 15th September and at 11am over the weekend and run through to a close at 11pm every day but Thursday when it closes at 10pm.

     

    The Race Village will house a giant screen for spectators to catch every race and enjoy expert analysis, sailor interviews and an unbeatable atmosphere. A range of food and beverage outlets will be serving everything from regional delicacies to food-on-the-go whilst the America’s Cup merchandising and team apparel will be available to buy at the Village.

     

    Additional cultural offerings include a Barcelona Maritime Exhibition and various teams are planning significant fan engagement programmes throughout the weekend.

     

    Seating and tables will be provided all around the village for spectators to relax and enjoy the racing whilst ample public conveniences and water stations will be available. The total area of the 37th America’s Cup Official Race Village is some 14,400 square metres. It promises to be the ultimate venue for watching the racing.

  • ENTERTAINMENT SCHEDULE

    The Race Village doors open at 1200 on Thursday 14th and Friday 15th of September and at 1100 over the weekend and run through to a close at 2300 every day.
    Each day at 1330, the fans can cheer the sailors on the main stage as they head to the racetrack and start enjoying the Race Village gastronomic offer before the races start at 1530. Live action will be displayed on the giant screens in the Village, the promenade and the Ribes Roges Beach. 

    Each day between 1730 and 1830 and in the evenings from 2000 hrs will be local cultural and musical entertainment on the main stage for all to enjoy.

    A few appointments to keep in mind are the Official Opening Ceremony on the 14th at 1900, La Petita Havana Show on the 15th at 2030, followed by Banda de Música Mestre Montserrat ·Show at the same time the next day. On the last day at 1830 during prizegiving on the main stage, the winner of the event will be celebrated and then at 1930 the Inxa brass band show will close 4 days full of action and entertainment.
