A WIN ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT

A controversial America’s Cup. Swiss pharmaceuticals heir Ernesto Bertarelli poached Russell Coutts and his key lieutenants and launched the Alinghi Challenge. They were sensational and controversial. By the final, tensions were high. The Kiwis innovated with the ‘hula’ but lost 5-0 and the America’s Cup went to Europe for the first time.
