A WIN ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT

The Swiss billionaire Ernesto Bertarelli controversially hired the winning crew from Team New Zealand for the 2003 Cup that led to a backlash in New Zealand but ultimately lead to land-locked Switzerland winning the Cup on behalf of the Société Nautique de Geneve. Team New Zealand suffered from gear failure and even a mast break in the Match as they succumbed 5-0 to the Swiss. It was a loss that hurt.
