THE BIRTH OF FOILING IN THE CUP

The choppy waters and strong winds of San Francisco Bay was the venue and with the rules now stating 72-foot catamarans, it wasn’t long before innovation came knocking. The Kiwis managed to get foiling upwind first, and everyone was in a scramble to match them. The greatest comeback in sport occurred with Oracle Team USA 8-1 down, and on Match point, only to win 9-8.
